PLAN:

1 KEEP EDUCATION AFFORDABLE:

I’m currently pushing for U of T to run focus groups to help improve the ways we give counselling and connect students to scholarships and bursaries. I’ll also make sure governing council measures their own performance in providing financial aid using numbers that matter, not just total sums of money.

2 STUDY SPACE

St George–Make sure study areas are well-lit, in good repair, and have plugs. UTM–Push for higher amounts of study space in planned new buildings (because right now it’s pretty low). UTSC–Push for the admin to make a plan for how they’re going to come up with the 340+ new study spaces that they know students need.

3 REPAIRS

Did you know that U of T has just over $500 million in repairs to get to in the next 5 years? Some of those repairs are for student labs that aren’t safe enough right now to give a good practical education for students.

4 STUDENT SOCIETY DRAMA

I speak to most of the parties involved in the drama regularly, and have a first-hand understanding of the operations of UTSU and college councils, so I can help turn the drama into progress.

5 MENTAL HEALTH

We have CAPS, Accessibility Services, and an army of Registrars, but they don’t really work together. I’ll be pushing for a more integrated approach, and will help other students get involved with mental health initiatives such as the proposed Provost’s advisory committee.
